That we were given a photo, a name and a brief introduction to our baby boy. It was 2 years ago today that we got that much awaited phone call that told us we were soon to be parents of a little boy....he was born in the "City of Hope", and the prayers that we had prayed for him for many months before were coming true. It's amazing how some days start out just ordinary and then in a blink of an eye it becomes a day that it etched deep into memory. July 24, 2008 was one of those days.Even though our baby boy was oceans away, our hearts were flooded with deep emotions and happiness as we stared deeply at his tiny little picture. I used the image zoom feature on my computre to get as close as I could to see his little hands and feet. I so wanted to reach out and touch him and feel his skin on my fingertips. Little did I know it would be 4 months before that would happen. That is when the real waiting began.....4 tough months were ahead of memorizing his every feature and staring at his photos that we placed in frames all around the house. I kept one in the kitchen, where I would cook my heart out and play "Godspeed" from the Dixie Chicks on the CD player...and think of him, our little bundle of joy so far away. That was on the really tough days when I didn't know what else to do with the hardship of waiting. So I cooked and sang....
Godspeed, little man
Sweet dreams, little man
Oh my love will fly to you each night on angels wings
Godspeed
Sweet dreams
Sylas has been a part of our family now for 1 year and 8 months and it seems like he has always been here. The days fly by, but not one passes without giving thanks to our amazing God who formed our family with his divine grace and amazing plan.
"For I know the plans I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you HOPE and a future. Jeremiah 29:11

Love this one, Sarah! Referral day is such a memorable thing. Like you said, the day starts out normal - waiting is just routine by then - then the phone rings and WHAMO! the whole world is different in an instant. We are so happy you are here, little Sylas and we're thankful to be your friends!
Thanks for remembering in such detail and sharing with us. I remember exactly where I was when I received your call. I had to run out of the store and hit Main Street with the word. I AM A GRANDMA AGAIN!!! And what a journey it has been. Thank you Sarah and Seth for hearing God's voice and obeying, not second guessing or doubting his promise to you. I have learned and grown spiritually through this experience as we totally relied on God for direction for each phase. God picked Sylas just for you as Jeremiah 1:5 promises He knew Sylas before he was formed in the womb. Love Mom (alias Grandma Me-Me-Ming)
Yes, I can verify the nights of trying to get you to sleep in your bed with your sister an arms reach away. Oh my how the time goes by so fast. I have fallen asleep holding the feet of my children and grandchildren, praying over their steps. Heidi, Sarah, Brett, Regan and now Sylas.
Now, I am still lying in the dark praying over those feet but I can't hold them in my hand, but God can. Thank you Lord for the power of prayer.
Hold on tight Sarah... who knows what adventures paths Sylas will take. God has a plan for his life. Love, MOM
I pray the waiting period will go by quickly for you this time!
