Life screams by so fast, doesn't it??

Our blog is all about connecting the dots of daily life....

And helping our long distance family stay connected to us.

I'm not that good at baby books so decided this would be a good place to leave a polka dotted trail of Sy's childhood...

So that 20 years from now, we can look back and see what was going on in the daily life of our little family.

A bread crumb trail so to speak!

You are welcome to drop in anytime and see what we are up to.

A Friday Funny.....Grocery Cart Assembly

A Friday funny to share...and the joke is on me! Ah well, here goes.
We were getting ready to head to Gymboree class and our faithful UPS main treked up our snowy hill to deliver a present from MeMe. She was shipping it in advance and I was supposed to hide it out until Valentines Day.

Oops...the box was very obvious what is was....and Sylas was very aware of what just got placed on our front porch. He was super excited...especially to hear it was from MeMe! I gave in and let him bring it inside to look at...then he talked me into letting him open it just to take a peak inside. Then once he saw it needed some assembly, he pulled out the instructions started showing me the numbers on each step to follow, telling me to "Fix it". ...it was almost time for class to start and I could tell putting the cart together was going to take some time. So I said we would have to wait until Daddio came home from work and that we would put it together tonight. Well it's 10AM and tonight is a long time from now....he looked down at the ground....then back up at me with the saddest eyes and down turned mouth and said "Sy, sad" The weak of heart that I am...that broke my heart in two....and so "project assembly" was quickly put into action. I wasn't absolutely sure I had the ability to do it, so to give myself some wriggle room, I said "Mommy will TRY" to fix it.
(and then held my breath!)

Sylas got a toolbox from Aunt Cake and Uncle Michael for Christmas and he ran to go get it. And immediately started working on the wheels saying "Wheels....round, round!" "Wheels...round, round!"

Being the Trainiac that he is...he loves watching the wheels on his little trains go round and round and knew how much fun these grocery cart wheels would be as soon as they were in motion.

As you might guess....the very LAST step was for wheel assembly. Eeesh! So I went as quickly as I could to get to that last, much hoped for step. All was going well, until the last step. I was sweating bullets trying to figure out how to get the metal rod to fit into the proper spot and keep the wheels from falling off...and so and and so on. I'm concentrating so hard, reading again and again, loooking at the picture, holding onto the said pieces.....

The whole time Sylas to saying to me "Momma! Momma!" I'm tuning him out so that I can get this last step done. Finally I start to give up and look over to Sylas, to see what he wants to tell me.....

Yep, you guess it. He had the front wheels on and I was working on the back
ones.
Yep, my toddler can understand the assemly instructions better than I can.

Oh boy....what can I say? This will be good for a Friday funny, I said to myself.

Sylas was certainly not "sad" once the cart was together. He pushed it all over the house
and loaded it up with goodies.

Thanks MeMe for the fun project...who would have known putting a cart together could
bring so much fun memories...and humility!

My little "Engineer", now which one is to be seen. Train, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural or Aviation. He can do it all. I am so proud of you Sylas for helping Momma fix things and put things together. You are a Big Helper!
